Since 1983, California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform has been fighting for the rights of long-term care
residents in California. CANHR's mission is to educate and support long term health care advocates and consumers
regarding the rights and remedies under the law, and to create a united voice for long term care reform and humane
alternatives to institutionalization.
California Penal Code, Section 368 The Legislature finds and
declares that crimes against elders and dependent adults are deserving of special consideration and
protection.
